Burgham Horse Trials has become one of my fixtures in the eventing year - both their FEI events in March and July are prepared and run with incredible effort by the team and provide fantastic conditions for horses and riders.

The weather has this year unfortunately not been kind to the team - which made them relocate the dressage to the organiserĀ“s private equestrian facilty - an outanding equestrian centre with fantastic arenas and facilities.

I am hugely greatful for the organiserĀ“s effort and running a great dressage day - unfortunately with walking the cross country course in the afternoon it became iminent that only a miracle could avoid a cancellation of the cross country day the following day.

The course designer, course builders and stewards had done everything possible to prepare track and fences - nevertheless the ground was still too wet to provide safe conditions for horses and riders.

As much as I would have loved to give my "big boys" Rutherglen, Algebra and The Blue Frontier their first CIC3* run of the season - the decision not to continue with the event was made in favour of the welfare of all horses, which is our upmost priority.

I was over the moon with their dressage performances - all three boys did a fabulous test, leading to all three of them being placed in the top 15 after dressage.

We now have to make new plans and reroute the schedule for these 3 horses - our next competition for the Hoy Team will be Belton Horse Trials next weekend.

See you there!
